I put freeze on chance to dance

-

DANNY O’carroll turned down an appearance on Dancing On Ice last year because of the serious time commitment needed.

The much-loved Mrs Brown’s Boys actor lives in Co Donegal and would have needed to move to England to compete on the show.

After hinting he was also approached to do Strictly Come Dancing or Dancing With The Stars, Danny told The Social Media: “I don’t think I would do any of the dance-based shows.

“I am actually pretty handy on the dancefloor but they are so full-on and you have to be away for a long period of time.

“Dancing On Ice asked me to sign up last year and I said no because it was a six-week rehearsal beforehand and it was based in England.” His aunt Eilish, who plays Winnie Mcgoogan on the show did Dancing With The Stars and his stepmother Jenny, who plays Cathy Brown, did Strictly Come Dancing but Danny wouldn’t want to be separated from his wife and two sons for that length of time.

He added: “I didn’t want to be away from my family for three or four months, it wouldn’t be worth it. I would never say never though.”

Danny has also been involved in Soccer Aid for the last few years and he said he was the perfect way to combine two of his loves.

He said: “I played soccer with Home Farm and St Kevin’s when I was growing up but I had to give it up when I started touring.

“Acting took preference so I didn’t have enough time to play or train.

“I started playing again when I moved to Donegal and then Soccer Aid got in touch and I was never going to turn that down.

“Getting a chance to play alongside and against your childhood heroes and the heroes of today was just incredible, it was a dream come true.

“I got to play in two tournaments in a row and hopefully I will be involved again.”
