NO SURPRISE IF SPANISH STEPS UP ONCE AGAIN

- BY ANITA CHAMBERS

SPANISH ANGEL can make a swift return to action pay dividends in the Follow At The Races On Twitter Handicap at Windsor.

Andrew Balding’s charge is saddled with a 6lb penalty after his win five days ago - a victory that appeared most unlikely inside the final furlong.

Spanish Angel looked held in second by Glamorous Anna, only for the front runner to jink in the shadow of the post, losing valuable momentum and handing the advantage to the Gutaifan gelding, who made no mistake in triumphing by a head.

While he could be deemed a lucky winner, Spanish Angel has nevertheless been making strides with every outing and some of his weight rise is offset by useful 5lb claimer William Carver taking over from Oisin Murphy.

On a course he clearly likes, Spanish Angel should be put on the shortlist again.

Up and coming trainer Tom Clover (inset) has started the season in great nick and can bag another winner courtesy of Broughtons Gold in the Download The At The Races App Handicap.

The selection was himself a recent winner at Newbury, doing it quite comfortably at that. Still unexposed after just three career starts, he looks to have more to give yet.

Quickstep Lady can demonstrate her winning moves in the Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Fillies’ Novice Stakes at Yarmouth.

Unplaced in two juvenile outings, Quickstep Lady was not beaten far by the welltouted Stylistique on her return at Newbury earlier this month.

While she proved no match for the winner or second-placed African Dream, Quickstep Lady kept on at her own pace in the final furlong and a repeat of that level could be good enough.
