Sir Ringo Starr
SIR Ringo Starr has revealed the Beatles’ final performance will be shown in full for the first time in a new film by Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson.
The legendary band played for the last time on the roof of the Apple Building in London in 1969.
Ringo, who turns 80 on Tuesday, said: “In the original documentary it was 12 minutes, and he has got it up to 45. It is really great.”
He adds that Jackson has found the joy in the Fab Four’s last recording sessions, which were believed to have been plagued by arguments.
The drummer said: “We have found 56 hours of unused video and film. There is a lot of great humour and the closeness of the boys can be seen.”
The Beatles: Get Back is released on September 4.
