Noisy Nolans sent to bed by man with gun

The Nolans

THE Nolans have revealed while touring Russia in the 1980s, they were forced to go to bed by a man with a machine gun because they were being too loud.

In Moscow in 1986, the singers turned their rooms into “pretend pubs”.

Maureen, 66, said: “Each floor had a warden, a big woman warden and one night she came to us and said, ‘very late – go to bed’.

“We went, ‘oh yeah, whatever’ and shut the door. Then there was another knock and she had come back – and there was a man with a machine gun behind her.

“And we went ‘oh is that the time? Bedtime’.”

The group’s biggest hit, I’m In The Mood For Dancing, in 1979, has sold more than a million copies.
