Floppy Friday
It must be tough in TV drama departments right now. There are only so many one-person monologue series or shows written around Zoom one can do.
Fortunately BBC3 had a stash of programmes which could be used to fill the prestigious primetime 9pm BBC1 slot.
Unfortunately... while Normal People made superstars of its actors, Reggie Yates’s Make Me Famous (ironically) failed to live up to its name for anyone involved.
Why? Because the drama about becoming a reality TV star got record low ratings for the time slot, just 840,000 viewers.
There is some good news (especially for jobbing actors willing to spend days in a hospital bed): Casualty is coming back on July 11. It might not give us new blood, but at least it’s a shot in the arm for TV drama.
