We saved the best till last. Although it’s 26 years old, Nemesis is still rated as one of the best rollercoasters in the world and we reckon it’s the country’s No 1.

It had to be built within the park’s height restrictions, with tonnes of rock dynamited to allow construction of Europe’s first inverted ride.

Themed around an alien with tentacles, it’s an out-of-this-world thrill with weightlessness, plunges, twists and turns that swoop by rocks and weave through the gore-spattered beast.
