JOSE BLASTS FA OVER DIER BAN

-

getting himself into trouble by insisting the FA do not “belong to the tribe” of football and have no understanding of the game.

The Spurs boss said: “We have to be in love with the game and to be in love with the game we have to be in love with the good things and bad things.

“But players are human. We coaches have feelings, we don’t like to lose. In our case, as managers, more than players.

“Every defeat puts a manager in a very difficult situation. It’s a difficult job, but we love it. My feeling is that in the majority of the cases, football is not protected by the people that are powerful and don’t belong to this world.

“That’s simply my feeling. Powerful people – that don’t belong to the tribe and they don’t have the feelings. They don’t have the know-how and it’s very, very difficult to lead something when you don’t have a clue about the world that you are leading.”

Dier had to be restrained by security as he went to confront the fan, who, according to the FA’S report, called him a “w **** r” and a

“f***ing c***.” But the independent regulatory committee’s report was damning and said Dier was “clearly threatening”. He was interviewed by the police, but not charged.

Mourinho revealed the fan had later requested a personal meeting with Dier to apologise to him.

Mourinho added: “It was his own decision because the person in this case is a Tottenham fan and was sorry for what happened.”

Tottenham are understood to be fuming that the report reveals the fan insists he never felt threatened, but the FA still took action. England boss Gareth Southgate even provided a character witness statement for Dier.

Mourinho made a final dig at the FA by claiming Spurs would be wasting their time by launching an appeal.

“We all know how it works at these FA decisions,” he said. “I don’t think we are going to appeal.” BOURNEMOUTH: Ramsdale, Smith, Kelly, Ake, Rico, Lerma, L Cook, Stanislas, Brooks, Wilson, King.

TOTTENHAM: Lloris, Aurier, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Davies, Winks, Sissoko, Lucas, Lo Celso, Son, Kane.
