Searches target criminal gang Targeting assets of persons involved in drugs
MORE than €66,000 in cash and a car were among items seized by the Criminal Assets Bureau yesterday.
They were found at a home in South Dublin and at a commercial premises in the west of the city during an operation targeting organised crime.
Officers seized €66,865, a 161 Audi Q7, two encrypted phones and documentation during the raids.
The operation was described as a “significant development” in a probe focusing on cash and other assets acquired by criminals through the selling of controlled drugs.
A Garda spokeswoman said: “The search was conducted by personnel in the Criminal Assets Bureau, assisted by the Regional Armed Response Unit, DMR [Dublin Metropolitan Region] S South District Detective Unit, the Stolen Motor Investigation Unit and the Customs Dog Unit.
“This morning’s search operation is a significant development in an ongoing investigation into cash and other assets accumulated by a local organised crime group from the sale and supply of controlled drugs.
“This search operation is just one example of the Criminal Assets Bureau working with local gardai to target the assets of persons involved in drug dealing in the local community.”

A LARGE sum of cash and drugs were among items found after gardai raided a house.
Officers seized the money, a small amount of cannabis, an airsoft rifle and a TAG Heuer watch in Clonshaugh, North Dublin, on Wednesday afternoon.
Gardai attached to the Divisional Crime Taskforce Unit in Santry carried out the search. No one was arrested and investigations are ongoing.
