A COMPANY has urged parents not to apply for jobs on behalf of their children – who probably don’t want the position in the first place.

Hogan’s Turkey Farm, which produces 90,000 Christmas turkeys each year, made the request while looking for new operatives at their plant near Kells, Co Meath.

Marketing and sales manager Niamh Craughan said: “It was a bit tongue in cheek but it has happened in the past that mammy or daddy have called asking for a job for their children or sending in a CV unknown to their son or daughter.

“It’s well-meaning but if the person doesn’t apply themselves, chances are they don’t want the job .”

MARTY Morrissey said he prays there is an afterlife so he can be reunited with his beloved Dad.

The Clare native and star of Marty In The Shed says light entertainment has been crucial during these unsettling times.

The 61-year-old famously won the hearts of the nation on Dancing With The Stars and said that he hopes the hit show returns to get us through the winter.

Only child Marty said he believes in God and hopes he can meet his Dad once more.

He told the Irish Mirror: “I’m not overly religious but I believe in God, I want to believe there’s an afterlife and want to meet the people who are gone, including my

Dancing With The Stars own Dad.” Marty’s mum Peggy became a household name during lockdown, regularly dropping in cups of tea to Marty and his crew.

During the crisis Marty turned his mum’s shed into a studio and his novel concept was a ratings hit.

The GAA pundit wowed the RTE audience and his chatty interviews with Nicky Byrne and Chris O’dowd, even had the birds going bonkers.

He said: “You look at nature and the birds singing, two little birds, a mummy and a baby have nested in the shed.

“The shed has been there for at least three years and never had a nest and we started the caper of the shed and low and behold, a nest appears.

“When we were recording the show, you could hear the scraping of the little birds walking on the roof.”

Marty said competing on Dancing

With The Stars was “one of the best things he’s ever done.”

He said: “It has been a regular diet for us for four years. I hope it returns, it’s shortened the winters and has been Sunday night compelling viewing.

“The amount of letters I got from children and parents saying it gave them all a chance to get together as a family and sit down and watch something and be entertained, they’d pretend they were Anna Geary or Aoibhinn Garrihy.

“They weren’t pretending to be me, my moves weren’t the best but it was great fun.”

The telly favourite has always been self-deprecating despite his legion of fans.

He added: “I’ll never forget going in on January 7. All I could hear was laughter, I had forgotten that all the camera and sound engineers and lighting were my colleagues from work.

“Suddenly they saw me trying to move on the dance floor, sure I couldn’t even do the moves. It was great fun.”
