‘DON’T STOP TIL WE GET TO COLOGNE’

- BY DAVID MCDONNELL

MANCHESTER UNITED have been challenged to keep their feet hard down on the accelerator – all the way to Europa League glory in Cologne on August 21.

United’s place in the quarterfinals is a formality, with the Reds 5-0 up before the return leg against Austrian club LASK Linz at Old Trafford.

In the last eight, United will face Copenhagen or Istanbul Basaksehir, with a potential semi-final against Premier League rivals Wolves.

Solskjaer said: “Well, I don’t want to look too far ahead because I just think we should focus on the next game.

“We’re in a position now where we’re just focusing on the league.”

But the United boss admits: “There’s definitely games to be looking forward to and we just have to keep on our run.”

Apart from Wolves, they could face a reunion with two old boys at Inter Milan – Ashley Young and

Romelu Lukaku (below).

Solskjaer is relishing the single-game knockout format of the Europa League once the tournament concludes with next month’s eight-team minitournament in Germany.

He said: “I’ve been involved in a European Championship and a World Cup, so we’ll be living tight together abroad. We’ll prepare really well and hopefully we can last more than just the one game.”

Wolves drew 1-1 with Olympiacos in Greece and if they win the second leg face Roma or Sevilla in Duisburg.

Boss Nuno Espirito Santo said: “In August we will think about that. Let’s not look too far ahead because it can only distract you. We want to do well in the league and arrive at the Olympiacos game playing well.”
