Our Nana turned 101.. I miss her Seoige much
Ex- RTE star says she was ‘ in bits’ after staying away from big day
SILE Seoige has revealed her heartache at not being able to travel home to visit her granny who recently turned 101.
The Connemara TV star spoke of how close her nana is to her and her sister Grainne.
Sile, 41, told the Irish Mirror : “I was i n bits bawling, cr ying during t he week and I ’m normally pretty good at managing emotions and the now.
“But I just felt it this week as my nana turned 101 and I couldn’t be there, it broke my heart.
“S o l a s t y e a r t h e r e was a bi g cel ebration f or her i n Connemara when she turned 100. Bridin has 10 kids, a lot of grandkids and great grandkids.
“Our little boy Cathal is the youngest great grandchild and it was just fantastic. We’ve had great celebrations in recent years with last year being the biggie.
“There was music, dancing laughter and hugs, I suppose all the things we are living without right now. Not just that,
I was missing her but looking at the pictures made me miss everything more.
“I live in Dublin but I miss my folks too, I haven’t seen them either. When I did see them a while back, we had to be so careful.
“I ’m pretty good at navigating my day, bringing my awareness to what I ’m grateful for but this week thinking of nana, I just felt so sad, looking at photos that reminded me of her.”
Nana Seoige is one strong lady, as her proud granddaughter revealed: “The great thing is my nana is hale and hearty and there were lovely photos of her blowing out candles on her birthday cake this week.
“She’s really happy, she lives in Rosmuc in Connemara in her own house, she has amazing support from my aunt and uncle who live with her, we’re extremely blessed to have her and so lucky.
“We’re looking forward to reuniting but even if we do get to see each other at Christmas, it won’t be exactly the same as it was, but we will live with it as
we’re all in this together.” Meanwhile, the former RTE star’s Ready To Be Real podcast i s ri sing high on the itune charts.
Si l e sai d: thankfully.
“My l i st enership has grown over Covid and I think the diversity of the guests and the wisdom that I feel my guests offer is great.
“Joanne O’riordan is my latest guest, she’s only 24, she spoke in the UN when she was only 16 – she’s incredible.
“With restrictions now in place, my guests are finding it tricky to get into the studio, but recording from home i s possible, which is brilliant.
“Today my podcast i s al l about Halloween, people will find it either informative or nostalgic.
“I’m also working on the documentary on TG4 on miscarriage and t hat’s proved really difficult during this time but we’ll get there.
“Hopefully when restrictions l i f t, we’ ll finish it and it will go to air next year.”
