Aoife: I could be making my own Transformation

Dietitian might reduce role on hit show

OPERATION Transformation’s Aoife Hearne said juggling work and home schooling has been “horrific” and hinted she could cut her work on the show soon.

The dietitian joined the RTE hit in 2014 but admitted life during the pandemic with three kids under six and never ending work has made her re-evaluate her priorities.

Aoife told the Irish Mirror: “We’ve got six, four, and two, so it is just hard. It is really, really hard.

“It has been horrific. It has been really stressful and I just have to take it hour by hour to be honest with you.”

With no childcare amid the current restrictions, Aoife said she feels like she is unable to give anything her full potential.

And with a house move in the mix, the Waterford woman said the past few months have just felt like adding amounts of stress for everyone involved.

She added: “It’s really hard. And I just feel it’s not fair on anyone.

“I feel I’m not able to give 100% to my work, I’m not able to give 100% to them, you are expecting so much from them which is so unfair.

“And then on the flipside, it has been nice to have a lot more time with each other as well but the home school thing is just really bloody hard.

“It definitely hasn’t been an easy time. And we actually sold our house during the last lockdown and are in a rental now and starting to build.

“So we are in a much smaller space which also makes it a little more challenging, so I don’t really have an office space either.

“But listen, everyone is finding it the same. It just adds another level of stress.”

Hoping to draw a positive from the hard times, Aoife said the recent struggles have opened her eyes to what she really wants from life going forward, including some major work changes.

She explained: “I can’t say too much what has changed, I will say it towards the end of the show but some big changes.”

However, Aoife remained tightlipped on what the cutbacks will mean for her place on the RTE show.

However, content with the decisions she has made, the author said she’s grateful for recent events forcing her to make the move.

She added: “The thing about it is, as hard as it is being home, in 10 years’ time the kids are not going to really need us as much and I would have missed out on that, so yeah, I think that has been the benefit for me.

“Because I don’t know if I would have ever done that on my own.

“I don’t know if I would have been brave enough to press pause and say no to some of the things if I wasn’t forced into it.

“So for that I’m grateful.”

It’s really hard. And it’s just not fair on anyone
