Demands? Don’t Mac me laugh

- BY ROBERT HYNES

CONOR MCGREGOR has hit out at tennis players complaining about having to quarantine ahead of the Australian Open.

Those arriving into Australia are being forced to isolate in a hotel for two weeks ahead of the tournament, but some players have complained about conditions.

Novak Djokovic issued a list of demands, while Bernard Tomic’s girlfriend bizarrely claimed she didn’t know how to wash her own hair before later saying that it was a joke.

But Mcgregor, who faces Dustin Poirier in his first fight in over a year this weekend in Abu Dhabi, has no sympathy for them.

He told Channel 10’s The Project: “I am surprised the tennis players would be kicking up.

“We have got to correct ourselves here, you know. There is a lot going on. There is a lot at risk. It is everyone’s duty here on Earth to do what they can.

“To get to compete in such a prestigious tennis tournament, or any tournament... a two-week lockdown prior they should welcome with open arms.

“I would urge the tennis players to get their act together and also embrace it and relish it and be happy they get to compete.

“People can’t go to work and children can’t even go to school. Professional athletes are complaining about a bit of isolation? Come on, guys.”

Mcgregor had to isolate for two days with his fiancee Dee Devlin and their two children after arriving in Abu Dhabi earlier this week.

He told The Mac Life:

“We did the 48 hours quarantine pretty smoothly.

“We’re happy to be out of it now.”
