DUBAI TWO BUST OUT

Women reunited with families as Health Minister pauses hotel quarantine

- BY SARAH SLATERTURN

THE Dubai Two were released from quarantine yesterday and reunited with their families for the first time since their “boob op” trip.

Niamh Mulreany, 25, and 30-year-old Kirstie Mcgrath were arrested at Dublin Airport on Good Friday, after initially refusing to comply with the rules.

It comes as the Health Minister paused mandatory hotel quarantine bookings last night. He said: “On a

precautionary basis, the [Health] department has paused the bookings to make sure we have the capacity.”

Stephen Donnelly said this is due to a problem with “walk-ins” at the hotel – people who turn-up without booking online before Departure.

He told RTE Minister Eamon Ryan is working with airlines to address the problem and hotel quarantine capacity is being ramped up.

Ms Mulreany and Ms Mcgrath were arrested and charged with breaching Section 38 of the Health (amendment) act 2021 by refusing to be detained in quarantine following their alleged refusal to go to the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Santry.

The pals were granted bail the following day, but were unable to take it up due to the financial conditions imposed on them.

Their bail conditions were changed the following day.

Last weekend the mums had their cases adjourned pending a High Court challenge to Ireland’s new mandatory quarantine laws.

The friends, who have three children between them, were arrested after returning from the United Arab Emirates, where they had been due to have, but did not ultimately undergo, cosmetic surgery.

Sources close to the pair said that both girls “were not allowed out of their room” since they entered the facility despite “numerous requests” to get air.

They had attempted to leave their bedroom door open to ventilate the room after they received their negative PCR test results over the weekend but security personnel informed them they were not allowed to do so despite, according to a spokesperson, the “room window not opening properly”.

It is also understood that despite several requests for medication, which the two friends have been prescribed for some time, they allegedly did not receive any.
