A TALENTED young footballer who died in a horror car crash will be laid to rest this weekend.

Funeral arrangements for 14-year-old Thomas Healy were confirmed yesterday after he was killed in the early hours of Tuesday.

The Toyota Corolla he was driving crashed at 1.10am on the Ross Road near Ross Castle in Killarney, Co Kerry.

A private funeral will take place at St

The service will be live streamed on the Beaufort Parish Facebook page.

Anthony and Timmy, aunts Jackie and Nikki, cousins Joshua, Dominic, Timothy and Ceara, relatives, neighbours, Laura and Leona, his teammates in Beaufort GAA and Killarney Athletic AFC, his school friends in the ISK, Killorglin and his many wonderful friends.”

Another young boy who was a passenger in the car remains in a serious condition in hospital. A source said yesterday he was “critical but stable”.

Thomas, who was from Beaufort near the Gap of Dunloe, was a promising young footballer.

Independent TD Michael Healy-rae, a cousin of Thomas’ musician dad Ger, said: “A lovely, young, bright, bubbly boy. Thomas would have worn the county jersey in time, he was extremely talented.

“The family are grateful and thankful for the outpouring of support and prayers and sympathies being offered to them by everybody.”
