Cheating woman’s cruel false rape claim against boyfriend
She lied about knife attack in bedroom
A WOMAN charged with making a false rape allegation claimed she did so because her boyfriend came home early and caught her in bed with another man.
The female – whose identity we are not revealing – told gardai she was attacked in her bedroom at knifepoint by a male she claimed had entered her apartment. Her solicitor is to put forward a defence of unfit to plead. Gardai had responded to a call to a Dublin flat at 2am on the date when the woman made the allegations.
The male was arrested for aggravated sexual assault, Swords District Court heard.
However, after the woman attended Mullingar Sexual Assault Unit shortly after for examination, she later that same day made a further statement to gardai claiming she was not raped but had consensual sex with the male.
Sgt Patricia Mcgarrity told Judge Cephas Power: “It’s alleged she claimed her boyfriend came home early and caught the woman and man in the bedroom and she then called the gardai making the alleged rape claim.”
After her second statement, the male was immediately released from custody and following an investigation the Director of Public Prosecutions directed the woman is charged with making a false rape claim.
After the judge accepted jurisdiction, the defence solicitor said there is an issue in that the defendant is unfit to plead. A psychiatric report has been ordered by the defence and Judge Power adjourned the case until later this month for a progress report.
