EVERY LITTLE HELPS

Hoops shop for talent but there might be some in cold storage

- MICHAEL GANNON

CELTIC are wandering around in the transfer market right now but it seems like they have got lost while meandering in the aisles.

The Parkhead club have been struggling to flog their out of date stock and unable to get new goods to the checkout.

But they might just get lucky with another top quality product in the store room.

Celtic have managed to produce plenty of talent over the years that have saved them a fortune in fees or banked a tidy profit when the time comes to cash in.

You can go back to the likes of Shaun

Maloney (centre) and Aiden

Mcgeady (top), right up to Callum Mcgregor and James Forrest – with Kieran Tierney (bottom) the poster Bhoy for the hit factory.

And now youngster Adam Montgomery is hoping he can be the next one to save Celts a supermarket sweep as he is hoping to follow in the footsteps of KT.

The 18-year-old said: “It’s a big season for everyone at the club. New manager, new chances to impress so everyone’s got a big opportunity this season. I want to show what I can do, really kick on and hopefully break into the first team.”

Wins against Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton on Saturday have made it a positive start for new Hoops boss Postecoglou.

New recruit Liam Shaw has caught the eye in midfield and at the back while Osaze Urhoghide was given the second 45 minutes in the Charlton win in Wales.

Montgomery likes the cut of the manager’s jib so far and is hoping there are brighter times ahead.

He said: “The manager has just said to keep playing the way I was playing towards the end of last season and implement his new playing style.

“A new gaffer has come in and everybody is trying to impress. It’s a fresh start for everybody at the club, the staff included. Everybody has an opportunity to show what he can do.

“It was good to get more minutes in the legs. In the first half, I enjoyed playing left wing. Then in the second half, I was back to left back so it was a good run out.”
