England reached a first major final in 55 years.

KEEPER

JORDAN PICKFORD Terrific tournament.

Won the Golden Glove with five clean sheets. Even made two saves in the shootout. RATING: 8

DEFENDERS

KYLE WALKER

Maybe had his best games in a back three. Defensively brilliant, pace crucial but passing could be better. RATING: 8

KIERAN TRIPPIER Started at left-back, played rightback, played right wing-back. Solid in all roles. Good tournament.

RATING: 7

JOHN

STONES

What a return to form. Another revelation. Everpresent, played in five clean sheets – a terrific tournament.

RATING: 8

HARRY MAGUIRE

A huge influence as a leader and also as a defender. His return to fitness and form was crucial. RATING: 7

TYRONE MINGS

Started the tournament, played in three clean sheets and did really well. Impressive contribution.

Gets a name check because of his positive influence on the group, despite not playing a minute.

MIDFIELD

DECLAN RICE

His tournament was epitomised by his brilliant performance in the final

(before being subbed).

Energy, drive and class.

What a double act with Rice. Shone with energy and discipline and grew with each game. RATING: 8

JORDAN HENDERSON Did not start a game but was a useful substitute and also a really good influence on the group.

RATING: 6

MASON MOUNT

A must-pick whenever he is available. The selfisolation period seemed to interrupt his rhythm but he was solid, if unspectacular.

RATING: 6

PHIL FODEN

Started the tournament and then injuries got in the way, but the world is at his feet and he’ll be back. RATING: 6

JACK GREALISH

The people’s choice... gets a good mark for sheer entertainment value by getting the crowd going. RATING: 7

JADON SANCHO

A bit of a mixed bag. He did OK against Ukraine but needs to contribute more if he is to become a regular starter for England.

RATING: 6

Three times he came on and three times he made a difference. This kid is gonna be huge. He’ll start in Qatar. RATING: 7

A mixed Euros. For the four goals and good performances he gets a good mark. Slow start, not great in final. RATING: 7

England’s best player. The match-winner twice, scored three in total. Never doubt him for England. Ever. RATING: 9

A regular sub but a shocking penalty in the shootout. Just not at his best because of fitness. Shame. RATING: 6

Came on twice but did not make bench twice. It’s an impossible job being stuck behind Harry Kane.

RATING: 5

OTHERS FORWARDS HARRY KANE

RAHEEM STERLING

MARCUS RASHFORD DOMINIC CALVERTLEWIN

Sam Johnstone and Aaron Ramsdale (non-playing keepers).

Ben Chilwell and Ben White (not a good tournament to be called Ben, barely made the bench).
