GYPSIES STAR AV A DREAM
ANDY LYONS is a regular at the Aviva Stadium as a season ticket holder for Ireland matches.
But the Bohemians full-back can’t wait to swap his premium level seat for a place on the hallowed turf for tomorrow night’s Europa Conference League clash with Stjarnan.
The tie is delicately balanced after last week’s 1-1 draw in Iceland.
But with 6,000 fans set to roar the Gypsies on in the latest in a series of pilot events to get supporters safely back to stadiums around the country, Lyons is hopeful Bohs will prevail.
“We’re really looking forward to it, the first time [at the redeveloped Aviva] for the club and for myself, for all the lads, we’re really looking forward to it,” he said.
“Getting 6,000 fans will be brilliant. Even seeing them down at Dalymount [yesterday] with their flags and buying the merchandise... we’re really looking forward to it.
“I am a season ticket holder [at the Aviva Stadium], I have a 10-year ticket with the FAI so I go to every game.
“I sit in No 317, the Premium level, right on the halfway line, it’s usually fairly packed.”
Asked whether it would be a genuine case of home advantage for Bohs tomorrow night, given that they are away from Dalymount Park, Lyons replied: “It’s hard to gauge.
“But with the fans being there it’s going to be brilliant, they will make a big impact.
“They will gradually come back in, but 100 fans compared to 6,000 fans will be a massive difference and we’re looking forward to it.”
