READY FOR A NIGHT OF TERROR

Eubank Jnr vows to make Awdijan suffer for disrespecting him on social media

CHRIS EUBANK JUNIOR claims he will “terrorise” Wanik Awdijan tonight for showing a lack of respect.

Eubank is angry about Awdijan’s jibe that the Brit ducked him two weeks ago when Sven Elbir pulled out with coronavirus and he opted for Anatoli Muratov as a replacement.

Muratov then withdrew when he failed a pre-fight medical and Eubank intends to make Awdijan pay for his insult.

“He tried to be the nice guy at the press conference,” said Eubank. “He complimented me, saying I’m a great boxer and this and that.

“You can’t go from saying the things he said on social media to trying to be Mr Nice Guy in the press conference.

“Before he said the things he said on social media, he was just the guy I had to beat in order to get to the next guy.

“There was no malice, I didn’t like him or dislike him. But after seeing the things he said, now I have a reason to go out there and terrorise him.

“I hope he understands the position he’s put himself in.”

Eubank’s trainer, Roy Jones Junior (with his fighter, inset below), claims the German will regret winding up his man when they clash in Newcastle’s Utilita Arena.

The legendary Jones is not concerned about having to prepare Eubank for a third different opponent in a matter of weeks and is confident he will be ready. “I love to have his engine running,” he said. “When it’s running, great things happen. I’m happy he talked junk!

“It’s easy to adapt because I prepare him for whatever. If an opponent does A or B, he may come out and do C. My job is to get him ready.

“These are just hurdles. If you can’t overcome these hurdles, how do you expect to overcome the hurdle of becoming world champ?”

Eubank is ranked No.1 at middleweight by the

WBA and No.3 by the

WBC. His goal is to win a major world title before the end of next year and he is adamant Awdijan will not derail those plans, saying: “He thinks he’s going to cause an upset and it’s my job to stop that at all costs.

“This guy is 28-1, I know what he can do. I’m not going to underestimate him at all.

“But I know what I am, I know what I can do and I know what I am going to do.”
