Kinahan flats ‘taken over by drug gangs’

Residents call for gardai and council to tackle problem

- EXCLUSIVE BY JOHN HAND Chief Reporter news@irishmirror.ie

ANGRY residents of the complex where drugs baron Daniel Kinahan grew up have told how crack cocaine and heroin are being openly sold in front of children’s eyes.

Oliver Bond flats, based in Dublin’s south inner city, is “on its knees” as innocent locals are pleading with the city council and gardai for help.

A section of the complex has been taken over by hoods as addicts roam in and out on a constant basis.

Kinahan, 43, grew up in the flat occupied by his mother Jean Boylan, who died in 2014.

Sources say much of the gear being sold there is by gangs who are supplied by the Kinahan cartel, which he runs from his Dubai bolthole. A group of residents have issued a statement but will not speak openly on the issue, such is the fear the evil mobs have spread in the area.

The statement claims: “Drug-dealers have taken over a section of the complex with rampant dealing of crack cocaine, heroin and other drugs been sold in front of residents and children.

“As the children finish school or any time, in fact, they are playing outside they are met with a wave of drug dealing as they play.

“It’s non-stop in their face all day, every day.

“This drug dealing is happening out in the open in plain view of anyone who is in the vicinity and there’s not a care in the world.

“Drugs are being hidden around people’s homes, drug users coming in and out of the complex in their droves, every few minutes.

“These drug dealers have brought the community to its knees with the levels of dealing being seen.”

Residents are appealing to authorities for help and suggested even posting gardai outside the complex on a permanent basis.

They say they have brought the issue up on a regular basis with Dublin City Council and local gardai.

The statement added: “These reports are being met with the same response that they are doing all they can, but there is nothing been done to stop the street

dealing outside people’s homes and in front of children.

“Residents have called for a permanent posting of a guard or even the army to put a stop to the dealing of very serious drugs.

“It is inhumane that there are people in Ireland 2021 that must live like caged animals because they are afraid to leave their homes.”

Last month, Green Party TD Patrick Costello spoke out on the drugs and intimidation.

Speaking in the Dail, he added: “There is huge concern and anger within the complex in relation to this kind of behaviour and they feel in a way that they are a forgotten estate.”

The Irish Mirror contacted gardai and Dublin City Council for comment last night.
