Actress Olivia Wilde served child custody papers on stage watched by thousands
ACTRESS Olivia Wilde was served child custody papers while on stage presenting the trailer for her new film to an audience of thousands.
Olivia, 38, who is dating singer Harry Styles, was shocked as she received legal documents regarding the children she shares with her former fiance, Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis.
She was handed a brown envelope marked “personal and confidential” as she introduced psychological thriller Don’t Worry Darling, which she directs and stars in with ex-one Direction star Styles.
Onlookers at first thought she was being given a script by someone trying to get her attention at the Cinemacon event in Las Vegas. She asked: “This is for me? Very mysterious. I’m going to open it now. Is this a script?” But she looked shocked as she read the papers, saying: “OK, got it. Thank you.” Respondents in US civil cases are expected to be served legal papers in person, but Sudeikis was said to have had no knowledge Wilde would be served this way. A Los Angelesbased process server hired by his New
York lawyers handed Wilde the envelope as she addressed cinema owners at
Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
The documents detailed which jurisdiction the case should be heard in. The server was said to have been accredited for Cinemacon. Organisers said they would re-evaluate security protocols.
Wilde and Sudeikis, 46, have Otis,
eight, and Daisy, five, from their nine years together. Wilde has been living in the UK with Styles while Sudeikis films the third series of Apple TV comedy drama Ted Lasso. She is reported to have Otis and Daisy in London while their father works on the show, set in the UK.
Sudeikis confirmed to GQ magazine that they had split in November 2020, saying: “I’ll have a better understanding of why in a year.” He is now in a relationship with British glamour model Keeley Hazell, 35, who co-stars with him in Ted Lasso.
Representatives for Wilde and Sudeikis did not respond to requests for a comment yesterday.
