Cody frost no big deal for Shefflin

-

WHAT a victory for Henry Shefflin.

It had to be tough for him coming up against his old team that he lined out with over the years – I know I always found it very difficult to stand there against your county.

You could see after the game that it wasn’t the friendliest of handshakes with Brian Cody.

Look, it doesn’t actually matter if they’re on good terms or not.

Brian didn’t seem happy with Henry for some reason but Henry won’t lose any sleep over it.

The last free yesterday was a big talking point. Was the puckout allowed too fast? Maybe it was.

But was there contact once it was allowed to go ahead? There was, so he was right to give the free.

No matter what, Galway fully deserved their win.

They played with savage spirit and were the better team, they kept getting a lot of bodies back behind midfield and got a lot of scores from long range.

Padraig Mannion was very good but a player I feel has been really impressive throughout the year is Tom Monaghan and again he came up with a few vital scores. His work rate was incredible, too.

It’s great to see Conor Cooney back on track with a few good scores – and slapping that free under pressure at the very end to clinch victory.

Kilkenny have two very tough games left and they will have to improve – Dublin and Wexford will be really tricky opposition for them.

Dublin haven’t hit top form yet but I expect over the next two games that there’s a big performance coming.

It’s hard to see who will win Leinster.

I’m not convinced Galway, who haven’t found top form yet, and it’s there to be won by any one of three or four teams.
