IRISH Eurovision hopeful Brooke Scullion has hit back at criticism over her Late Late Show performance – saying she will have dancers with her on the night.

The Derry native is gearing up to perform her catchy tune, That’s Rich, on the world stage in Turin on May 12 during the second semi-final of the song contest.

But before she left Ireland for Italy on Monday, the 23-year-old performed on The Late Late Show last Friday night.

Speaking about her more polished performance, Brooke said: “So we did a small version of it, then we did weeks of rehearsals, built it up.

“I started running. I have to run and sing because it’s not easy.

“We did The Late Late Show again on Friday and I wore a chain mail, it was like a rock version – everyone was raging: Bring back the dancers, meanwhile they were already coming so.”

Backing dancers Sophie Kavanagh, Amy Ford, Amy Whearity, and Lizzy Benham, will all perform on stage with Brooke.

She said: “We’ve just made it really, really exciting. The costumes are very superheroesque, striving for independence. I’m a Power Puff girl. Always was. Now it is a reality.”

Brooke has completed her first rehearsal on the Eurovision 2022 stage in Turin.

Wearing an electric blue outfit, Brooke gave a confident performance of That’s Rich, surrounded by her four dancers.

The performance features floor projections and a slick dance routine. The staging is very blue and pink, with fireworks also rumoured to be part of the performance.

Speaking about her first rehearsal, Brooke said she was “very happy” with how it went.

She continued: “Yes I do. I definitely think we have elevated to a point where it is really really fun for everybody to watch.

“It’s three minutes where you can just detach, focus on the stage, laugh at the lyrics, because they are funny, and just really enjoy the moment.

“It’s going to be a really fun performance and hopefully it transpires well to the people in the stadium and the audience on the cameras. Like people watching on TV.

“I think we have done a really good job and hopefully it has lived up to people’s expectations.

“What’s really cool about the staging is we did a microscopic version of it on the Late Late Show for the Eurosong special, which is how I got chosen.”
