DANCING With The Stars Arthur Gourounlian said he is becoming more famous than his Big Brother legend husband Brian Dowling.

The Armenian-born choreographer met the Co Kildare Big Brother legend just after he had won the reality show in 2001.

He has been the supporting partner to Brian who went on to win Ultimate Big Brother in 2010 and host other TV shows.

Arthur enjoyed his own showbiz success too, having danced with everyone from Beyonce and Kylie Minogue to Rihanna, Bananarama and Girls Aloud.

But he revealed he has never felt more well known than since he made his debut as a judge on the RTE dance show earlier this year.

The 41-year-old told the Irish Mirror: “It feels amazing. I never realised how much kids love the show. Everywhere I go, I feel like I am in Teletubbies. They all recognise me.

“They are like ‘Oh my God, it is Arthur’.

“The power of the show is incredible and the buzz is still there. I love it.

He laughed: “I mean, my ego is huge now.”

The dancer, who is known for poking fun at his husband on social media, and vice versa, went on to admit he has gotten a special kick out of how much the dynamics have changed for the couple since he catapulted to fame in Ireland over the past few months.

He said: “We were away in Spain and this beautiful couple came up to me, I think they were in their 60s. They said they loved me on the show and that I was a breath of fresh air.

“Then Brian came over and introduced himself as my husband and the woman literally looked at him and just said, ‘Hello’.

“She had no idea who he was and I swear, Brian’s ego literally went, ‘boom’.

It is because it is new, and I mean, he has done a lot of things, even bigger things than me but people remember what is on right now. And people love Dancing With The Stars.”

Fans aren’t the only ones enthralled by the glitzy show, as Arthur, who became the newest addition to the judging panel in place of Julian Benson admits he is holding out hope the show will return for another season.

And, of course, that he will be a part of it.

Arthur said: “Fingers crossed the show comes back.

“But, for me, I don’t know what is going to happen.

“I have been in showbiz for a long time and one minute you are in and the next you are out. I am not going to lie, I would love to come back.

“If I don’t come back, that is life and I had the most amazing time. It is what it is.”

In the meantime, the hairdresser turned dance sensation says it has already opened up a lot of other doors professionally.

Speaking at the launch of new Irish vodka brand Istil 38 in Dublin last week, he said: “It has, and it is only fresh and new. There’s something new coming, fingers crossed, I’m working on a different project. I am having a few meetings, so fingers crossed we are going to do good things. Either way it has been incredible.”
