WE’VE SCOT TO FORGET LAST GAME
STEPHEN KENNY wants his Ireland side to beat Scotland on the double - by improving on June’s 3-0 Dublin demolition in Glasgow tonight.
The Boys In Green recorded one of the best wins of the 26 game Kenny era by delivering a highly polished display at The
Aviva as Steve Clarke’s men were swept aside.
Tartan skipper John Mcginn (above) has demanded that his side that hammered Ukraine 3-0 in Hampden Park on Wednesday - must repair the “hurt” of that Saturday summer afternoon in Dublin.
But Kenny believes his men can move up a gear and so keep their Nations
League Group B1 runners-up bid alive.
“Every game is different so we are not dwelling on that June game,” said
Kenny.
“We have to move on from that game, this is a new challenge.
“We feel we can improve for sure, we are constantly looking to improve.
“We feel we can improve on aspects of our performance against Scotland.
“We have to continue to strive to improve. We’re not at our full potential, no, we’re not.
“It’s a special game, both sets of players I’m sure are looking forward to it.
“We treat every game in isolation. Scotland had a good win the other night, we respect that. They played well.
“Scotland played very well and to be honest with you, they’ve been very good since Steve Clarke took charge and qualified for the Euros.
“They’ve consistently been good so anything we get, we know we’ll definitely have to earn that.
“We played well in our last few games and from our point of view, with this Irish team, it’s a new Ireland, a new Irish team, a new identity.”
