WICKED WORKOUTS

-

SAS: Who Dares Wins stars Jason Fox and Ollie Ollerton have launched their own workout programme, Battle Ready 360: The Mission Series, with elite trainer Denny Denholm. Here are three of their top exercises: Static Lunge: Start with your feet shoulder width apart and slowly lunge forward with one leg, as if you are stepping over a small stream. Make sure your head is behind your knee and your knee is behind the toe of your front foot.

At the bottom of the static lunge, exhale and slowly push the heel of the front foot into the ground, raise your toes upward, then return to the top of the movement. Exercise on each leg for 20 seconds and change leg. Do three sets.

Muscle groups used:

Quadriceps, glutes, hamstrings, calves and lower back and core stability. Boxer’s Push Up: Begin in the plank position on your toes and hands on the ground. Rather than bend the arms like the traditional push up, you squeeze the shoulder blades together.

At the top, contract the scapula (shoulder blades) and then push them apart. This movement is smooth, slow and precise, with straight arms and body.

Keep looking forward, keep your bum in line with your shoulders and focus on using only your shoulder blades. Pulse for 30 seconds. Muscle groups used: Shoulders, deltoids, scapula, abdominals, legs, back and core stability.

Mountain Climber:

This exercise begins in the plank position. Bring the knee to the outside of the elbow while turning the head to look directly at the knee meeting the elbow. Then, return to the starting plank position. Alternate left and right legs for 30 seconds. Muscle groups used: Core stability, shoulders, chest, hip flexors, cardiovascular system. ■■Battle Ready 360: The Mission Series is available on fitness and wellbeing community app Truconnect (truconnect.fit)
