MOYES: ANTONIO IS GOING NOWHERE

- BY JON WEST

DAVID MOYES says there is no way West Ham will let Michail Antonio leave this month.

Antonio, 32, revealed talks had been held about his exit from the club he joined in 2015.

But with new signing Danny Ings injured on his debut, Irons boss Moyes refused to allow the Jamaica star to go.

He said: “Mich said it but we have got no intention of doing anything.

“We want Mich here and playing well, we want him scoring goals and we’re happy to have him.”

Antonio (top), who has been linked with an MLS switch, is West Ham’s all-time Premier League top-scorer, but has netted just twice this term.

And Moyes said: “There is no problem with Mich, we have a great relationship.

“We just need to hope he finds the form he had a while back and can get us the goals.”

The Londoners travel to League One form team Derby on Monday in the FA Cup fourth round.

Antonio is likely to start in that match, especially as fellow striker Gianluca Scamacca is also injured. West Ham sold Michael Dawson to Wolves because the defender wanted to be closer to his family in the north of England.

And with Kurt Zouma out with a hip injury, Moyes may make a late bid to borrow a centre-back.

He said: “I’ll see if I can get by with what I have got. If not, I would maybe need to go to the loan market.

“It is a wee bit up in the air.”

The Irons spent £12million to bring in Ings from Aston Villa, but the England frontman was hurt within seconds of coming on in the win over relegation rivals Everton last week.

Moyes (above) added: “He’s had an injection in his knee and hopefully he can get back quickly.”

The trip to Pride Park presents West Ham with a potential banana skin and Moyes added: “Derby are on a really good run.

“They’re a Premier League club in stature and size, so we’ll give them respect. I’ll never be complacent and am never surprised when I see great upset wins in the FA Cup.”
