Retired State Pathologist reveals her plans to move on with life after
FORMER State Pathologist said she has no plans to fade into the background now that she is retired.
Dr Marie Cassidy and her pro dance partner Steven Vincent became the second celebrity couple booted off Dancing With The Stars on Sunday.
And while the Scottish clinician said her glittering ballroom career may be over, she doesn’t plan to sit back and put her slippers on.
She added: “You are not defined by what you do. I can’t legislate for what people think and do.
“I am retired, not that anybody would notice. I have left that life behind and I am moving on to another life.”
Dr Cassidy, 65, said she has had many people telling her how she has inspired them.
She added: “The people I meet on the Luas and in town on a daily basis say, ‘You have inspired me to take up ballroom dancing’ and it is great people think to go and do something like that.
“Just because you are at a certain age doesn’t mean you sit at home with your slippers on.”
Dr Cassidy opened up about hosting popular true crime documentaries in the future but said she doesn’t like how those shows sensationalise gruesome events.
She added: “I have done that. I have done a few shows looking at that side of things but I think you have to be very careful. You have to be very mindful of their families and I don’t like sensationalising things or doing anything that would make people uncomfortable.”
And Dr Cassidy gave her opinion as to who will win DWTS.
She said: “I don’t want to say, but I have got my favourite, my little Brookie [Brooke Scullion]. They are all fabulous.
“Just look at Sunday night, did anybody expect Paul to pull it out of the bag? It was tremendous.
“They have all got it so anyone of them could be at the top of the leaderboard.
“I don’t know what is going to happen, but it will be a particularly interesting contest towards the end.
“I will be back for the final and I can always say I was in the final of Dancing With The Stars with no words of a lie.”
