I’m not rude... I’m just French
Casino Royale star Eva Green in court battle over axed film
BOND Girl Eva Green’s rants against colleagues on a doomed film were due to her “Frenchness”, she told a court yesterday.
The Casino Royale star made the claim in a legal battle over her contract on sci-fi movie A Patriot, which was shut down in 2019.
Eva, 42, claims she is still entitled to her $1million fee for the film.
But Bournemouth filmmakers White
Lantern claim she undermined the production and STAR made “excessive creative and financial demands”.
They allege she branded executive producer Jake Seal as evil, a “devious sociopath” and “pure vomit”.
The court also heard she allegedly called local crew members “sh***y peasants… from Hampshire” – prompting her to tell the hearing she “had nothing against peasants”. Eva – also known for 2019 Disney film Dumbo and BBC1 drama The Luminaries – claimed a message calling a producer a “f***ing inexperienced, pretentious moron” was her “emotional response” to being lied to about when the film would be shot. She said: “It’s my Frenchness coming out sometimes. Sometimes you say things you don’t actually mean.”
White Lantern claims her behaviour showed she had no “intention or desire” to complete the film in line with her deal.
Eva denied this, saying: “Why on Earth would I sabotage a project that I loved and that I risked my reputation on? It makes no sense at all.”
She said she “fell in love” with the film – also due to star Charles Dance and Helen Hunt – after reading Dan Pringle’s “brave and daring” script. The High Court hearing continues.
