PSG’S ANGER AT MISSING OUT ON TARGET ZIYECH

- BY MATTHEW DUNN

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN are furious with Chelsea after accusing the London club of botching the loan move of Hakim Ziyech.

The French giants claim that the club’s new owners were so tied up with trying to get a British record transfer over the line for Enzo Fernandez that they missed calls, failed to sign documents and sent emails with the wrong attachments.

In the end, the paperwork was not filed until 11.03pm on Tuesday night and an appeal to the Ligue de Football Professionnel in France fell on deaf ears the following morning.

Earlier in the day, Chelsea had been holding out for a permanent transfer before eventually agreeing a loan deal with the Morocco international travelling to the French capital.

RMC Sport claim Chelsea sent papers that were unsigned as the 11pm deadline approached and that PSG tried to call them at 10.46pm, 10.48pm, 10.49pm and 10.50pm to chase the missing signature. With just five minutes to go, Chelsea sent back another unsigned document.

The Blues insisted everything had been sent with two minutes to spare, but it was claimed they again sent the wrong attachment and by the time everything was in place it was too late. The Premier League club disputes the chain of events but would not comment further.

Ziyech (below) was forced to return to London, his dream of joining Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar shattered.

Sources close to the player are describing him as “upset”, not least because the player has been pushed even further down the pecking order with the arrival of Mykhailo Mudryk, Joao Felix and Noni Madueke.
