A SON of Gerry “The Monk” Hutch’s sister-in-law promised his “diamond of a mother” at her funeral that he will be a “completely different person”.

Jane “Jenny” Hutch Burke, 66, died at home last week from a suspected heart attack.

The Monk was not at her funeral in Dublin yesterday.

He remains behind bars to await the verdict of the Regency Hotel murder trial.

Also absent was Ms Hutch Burke’s youngest son Ross Hutch, 29, of Portland Place in Dublin’s north inner city.

He was arrested 17 months ago and remanded in custody, charged with allegedly slashing the face of an ex-partner’s boyfriend with a knife.

His mother was pronounced dead on January 27 after gardai were called to her home at Portland Place when a concerned relative forced entry into her home and found her body.

She was discovered just 24 hours after Hutch’s 13-week murder trial ended at the Special Criminal Court.

ROSS HUTCH IN LETTER TO HIS LATE MOTHER

Mourners in Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Sean Mcdermott Street in the north inner city heard a letter read from Ms Hutch Burke’s son Ross.

It said: “Ma, you are my world, my life, my everything.

“You’re a diamond and the best mother ever to me and the boys. You gave us everything and brought us everywhere.

“Ma, I promise you, when I come home that I will be there for your son, and my brother, Gavin.

“I will not let you down. I know you will be there as a guardian angel, looking over us, and I will make you proud when I get home.

“I will be a completely different person to who I was in the past. It’s just not registered that you’re gone.

“Until we meet again, I love you.”

Ms Hutch Burke’s husband Eddie Hutch Snr was 59 when he was shot dead on February 8, 2016. The couple had separated years before his death.

Their son Christopher “Bouncer” Hutch was just 25 when he died suddenly in 2003.

Ms Hutch Burke’s death notice stated she “will be deeply missed by her loving sons Edward, Gavin, Alan and Ross”.

She was buried at the St Paul’s graveyard section of Glasnevin Cemetery in North Dublin.
