Country singer ‘in shock’ & asks for prayers after loss of Kathleen
HEARTBROKEN Daniel O’donnell will bury his beloved sister Kathleen today following her sudden death last Friday.
The country music star last night asked fans for their prayers as the family prepared for the funeral which will take place in Co Donegal this morning.
It is understood the singer and his sister’s family are devastated at the passing of beloved Kathleen at her home in Kincasslagh, Co Donegal.
Daniel posted on social media that it was “with great sadness and disbelief ” that he announced the sudden passing of his “dear sister Kathleen”.
“We are all in shock and heartbroken. May her soul rest in peace. Please keep us in your prayers.”
Kathleen is survived by her husband John Doogan, sons John Francis and Daniel as well as daughters Tricia and Fiona.
She was the sister of Margo, Jamesie, Daniel and John Bosco O’donnell.
Kathleen was a well-known figure and previously ran the Viking House Hotel in Kincasslagh with her husband after it was purchased by her entertainer brother.

She and the singer were particularly close, according to friends of the family.
A source said: “Daniel is heartbroken. Himself and Kathleen were close in age and got on very well.”
Local people in the area are also devastated by the untimely death as it is understood she had not been ill.
Mullachdubh Community Centre was among those which posted online offering condolences to the Doogan and O’donnell families.
The post stated: “Kathleen was a great supporter of the Mullachdubh band – there are not many places the bands went that she wasn’t there supporting them.
“The Hill in Kincasslagh has lost a big character, a good friend and neighbour.”
Kathleen’s remains had been reposing at her home in Kincasslagh over the weekend.
Her Requiem Mass will take place at 11am this morning at St Mary’s Church, Kincasslagh, followed by her burial in Belcruit Cemetery.
