DYCHE PLAN FOR DOM HIT BY KO FEARS

- DAVID MADDOCK

EVERTON’S magnificent win over Arsenal was tempered by news star striker Dominic Calvertlewin will undergo a scan on a hamstring injury.

The England centreforward (above) was integral to the way the Blues dismantled Arsenal.

But afterwards manager Sean Dyche revealed a problem.

Calvert-lewin was substituted just after an hour and Dyche (right) said: “He’s niggled the hamstring, so we will have to wait and see.

“I don’t think it is a drastic one but he needs to settle it down so we will probably give it two days before we scan it just as a precaution at this stage.”

Dyche, though, vowed that Calvert-lewin will get better and stronger as his coaching staff work with the 25-year-old No.9.

And he revealed they have already shown him a ‘greatest hits’ collection to remind him of his quality.

Dyche said: “We said to Dominic, ‘just give us a chance to work with you and you will get stronger’.

The basic principles – we showed him his goal reels and said, ‘look where you are when you have scored’.

“We showed him the goal map and said to him, ‘look where you are: get between the sticks’.

“Sometimes you can strip things out of the game, you can do all the analytics, but sometimes it is just a case of being in the right place.

“It gives you a better chance to score... you have to strip all of it back and go, ‘you work hard, work from the front, and when we get the ball you get between the posts, and you drive in there. Don’t just stand there, drive in there’.

“And I thought he did that against Arsenal.”
