THE mum of a five-year-old who was left fighting for her life after a stabbing outside a Dublin creche has revealed her daughter will have to “relearn everything”.

The little girl, who suffered serious injuries on November 23 last year outside Gaelscoil Cholaiste Mhuire on the city’s Parnell Square East, is still receiving treatment – but has done “really well”.

The mum said her daughter has now entered the third phase of her recovery and said her medical team is really happy with her recovery so far.

She issued the update on a special Gofundme page called Barrog do Chailin Beag (A Hug for a Little Girl) on Saturday evening.

She wrote: “Our darling girl has now entered the 3rd phase of her recovery.

“This will be the longest as she will relearn everything as a result of her injury. She has done really well thus far and the medical team is very happy with her improvement.

“Once again, she is so strong and we are proud to be by her side supporting her, guiding her, and above all loving her every step of the way.”

The Gofundme page was set up in the wake of the alleged attack and as of last night has raised more than €60,000 for the child and her family.

The young girl has been in hospital since the incident six weeks ago – in which two other children along with their creche worker Leanne Flynn Keogh were injured.

Riad Bouchaker, of no fixed abode, is currently before the courts charged with three counts of attempted murder, one of producing and possessing a 36cm kitchen knife, three counts of assault causing harm, and one of assault causing serious harm.

He is in custody and will next appear at Cloverhill District Court on January 25.
