Strictly star responds after dance partner offers support over row Sport presenter Valerie’s big proposal in the Big Apple

RTE sport presenter Valerie Wheeler is engaged.

The TV and radio broadcaste­r announced the wonderful news with her followers on social media.

Her long-term partner Gavin Young popped the question while the couple enjoyed a romantic holiday in New York.

Valerie, who fans will recognise from RTE’S sport coverage and the Sunday Game, posted a snap of her sparkling engagement ring on Instagram. The happy husband and wife-to-be could be seen smiling on top of the famous Rockefelle­r Center in Manhattan.

Valerie wrote: “A rock on top of the rock. 03-01-2024.”

It wasn’t long before the couple were inundated with congratula­tory messages from followers.

And Cork footballer Valerie Mulcahy wrote: “Fantastic news guys.” Anna Geary added: “Huge congrats” while Valerie’s RTE sport colleague Evanne Ni Chuilinn said: “Ah the best news congrats Val!”
