Ryan singles out Buble, Sheeran & funnyman Peter Kay as favourites
RYAN Tubridy says his favourite Late Late Show guests were singers Michael Buble and Ed Sheeran and comedian Peter Kay.
Tubs presented the Friday night chat show for 14 years before stepping down last May.
Speaking to Chris Evans on Virgin Radio before his own morning show, he listed his favourite guests for various reasons.
Tubridy, 50, said: “He’s in the paper today. I loved him when he came in. Peter Kay, he was always good fun.
“Michael Buble is in the mix there. He was always lovely to everybody… he was always good fun and he was really nice to my mum too.
“Then the week before that Ed Sheeran very kindly came in. It was the end of the series, like the last run of the shows and he did a few songs.
“He signed his guitar and said, ‘This is for you’ and gave me one of his guitars.
It’s in my house in Dublin.” Asked by Evans if he ever considered selling the guitar on ebay, he added: “It’s addressed to me so it wouldn’t be very subtle.”
Ryan opened up this week how he was happy to be finally reunited with his daughter Julia in the UK.
He said: “My youngest is in the sky on her way to see me today so I’m very excited.”
During Julia’s stay, Tubs brought her to see the critically acclaimed production of Les Miserables on the West End in the historic Sondheim Theatre.
He added: “I posted that poster of Les Mis on Instagram and somebody immediately said, “@OMG please can I come?”… No, I’m going with my daughter and her friend.”
Meanwhile, Ryan’s inaugural Sunday broadcast aired last weekend, where the host revealed it’s good to be back on Irish airwaves even if he’s living in the UK.
He added: “I must say, even though I’m living in London for most of the week, and coming and going, it’s really lovely t o have this connection with you all.
“Happy new year!.. I think we’re still within our rights to say it now, but that’s it. I really hope you have a great new year.
“So now we’re here – little bit of London, little bit of Ireland, and it’s great. I’m like a human one-man Anglo-irish Agreement!”
