Sancho is a waste of money, a waste of space

HE IS ONE OF THE WORST BUYS IN UNITED HISTORY – £73M AND HE WON’T PLAY DUE TO HIS MINDSET? HORRENDOUS

- BY DAVID MCDONNELL

JADON SANCHO has been branded one of the biggest transfer flops in the history of Manchester United.

United paid Borussia Dortmund £73million for Sancho in 2021, with the winger heading back to the German club on loan this month after his spectacular fall-out with boss Erik ten Hag.

Sancho, 23, who has not played for United since August after being exiled by Ten Hag for publicly undermining him on social media, has managed just 12 goals in 82 appearances.

Former United striker Louis

Saha reckons Sancho will go down as one of the costliest mistakes in the club’s history and claimed he lacks the right attitude to succeed at such a big club.

“Jadon Sancho is one of Manchester United’s biggest transfer failures,” said Saha.

“You can’t have that type of quality sidelined because of his mindset.

“You can’t leave him out for six months because of that. The only thing that should stop you is injuries.

“We know that he’s good enough, which is why it doesn’t sit right. You can’t be putting yourself in that situation and thinking you’re bigger than the manager.

“Whatever happens, I don’t back Sancho – which is hard for me as a supporter of United. It’s just horrendous.”

Saha also claimed the imminent return of Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez from injury will be like having two new signings for United. Defender Martinez has been out since the end of last season with an ongoing metatarsal injury, while midfielder Casemiro has been sidelined since November 1.

“I hope the players coming back from injury return in better shape,” Saha told Paddy Power.

“I’m more excited to see them back than see any other new players come in.

“I could see a striker or midfielder come in, but getting those guys back is better than a transfer deal.

“With transfers, it’s all about getting players with the right energy and attitude in – it’s tough.

“I’d love to name names for Manchester United this January, but for them to challenge the teams at the top, it’s not just one player, or even two. It’s going to be a tough market.

“There should be an expectation and responsibility for the players there to change things... but I don’t think that’s going to happen.”
