CHEERS TO PEANUT

-

Meet Peanut, the pub-crawling cat. The ginger tom has become a regular at a string of boozers in his hometown of Chatteris, Cambs, and one has even set up a bed for him.

Owner Helen Wilson got Peanut when he was seven weeks, and said: “After we kept him in for a while, he started to venture out. I had reports of him frequenting the George Hotel. He kept nipping in.”

Peanut has also been spotted at the Bramley House Hotel and the Chatteris Working Men’s Club.

Diane Maher, landlady at the George, where Peanut has a bed, said: “Everyone fusses him. When I take a tray of drinks out, he’s always on someone’s lap. My regulars always look out for him.”

Owner Helen added: “He loves a fuss, I am pleased he is so contented. He would not go there if he was not happy.”

We love a brilliant pet picture, and so do our friends at Webbox. And we all want to see your favourite snaps of your animal pals too.

This week’s picture is a special one, featuring animal welfare campaigner and friend of the People’s Pet Awards, Pete Wicks.

Pete posted this heartwarming shot on Instagram to celebrate the new law banning the dog meat trade in South Korea.

Pete, who travelled to South Korea to highlight the issue, wrote: “Nothing could have prepared me for the suffering, cruelty and conditions that we as humans put these dogs through. This marks the end of that suffering and I couldn’t think of a better way to start 2024!”

Send your snaps to petclub@mirror.co.uk or tag our socials. Make sure to tell us a bit about your pet, what makes them special to you and where you live. We can’t wait to see them!
