Could Kier be a Red leader?

KIERAN MCKENNA has hit his first bumps in the road as Ipswich manager after taking just four points from their last five games in the Championship.

But the Tractor Boys are still three points clear in the race for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

And after learning his trade in the coaching hierarchy at Old Trafford, Mckenna is now flourishing as a manager in his own right at Portman Road.

If he goes on to seal back-to-back promotions in is first job, we will have to ask the question.

Is he a future Manchester United manager?

At some point in the years ahead, United might be well-served by appointing a head coach who knows the club, its values and its traditions inside out.

What Mckenna (above) has done with Ipswich is not just about results – although they speak for themselves.

It’s been about improving players, entertainment, identifying a way of playing football and sticking to your principles – most of the things the

Red Devils seem to have mislaid.

Look at Ipswich’s attendances – selling out every week is no mean feat.
