TRIBUTES have poured in for a farmer killed in an accident earlier this week.

Tom Childs, 65, was pronounced dead at his farm in Galbally, Co Limerick, on Tuesday afternoon.

His body was taken to University Hospital Limerick where a postmortem was due to take place last night.

Councillor Eddie Ryan told the Irish Mirror: “The community is in shock.

“He was very wellknown and comes from a well-known family.

“He has two adult children and a wife and my heart goes out to them.

“It’s tragic the manner in which he lost his life. It’s a pity. Everybody is heartbroken and shocked. I would have known Tom and his family very well.

“Tom was a hardworking individual, he would just work away.

“The amount of farmer deaths has gone down in recent years but they haven’t gone away. Farming can be quite dangerous, it’s a risky game to be especially on your own.”

Writing on RIP, one mourner said: “A true gent who never failed to make us laugh. Memories I’ll treasure forever.”

Another said: “May he rest in peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with ye all at this sad difficult time.”
