Trump v Biden Pt2
Primaries victory mean rerun of 2020 contest is on cards...
THE US looks to be facing a fight between Joe Biden and Donald Trump to be the next President, a rerun of the 2020 contest.
Trump has the nod from Iowa and New Hampshire to be the Republicans next candidate, and created history by winning the first two nominating states.
His double-digit victory in New Hampshire prompted President Biden, 81, to say: “It is evident that Donald Trump will be the Republican nominee.”
EX-UN ambassador Nikki Haley, 52, is his only rival for the Republican ticket.
She vowed to fight on, despite investing much time and money in the campaign to win New Hampshire.
She questioned the former president’s mental strength and pitched herself as a unifying candidate who would usher in generational change.
After the result, she said: “This race is far from over. There are dozens of states left to go.”
Trump, 77, said: “Let’s not have someone take a victory when she had a very bad night.”
Trump faces 91 criminal charges related to everything from seeking to overturn the 2020 presidential election to mishandling classified documents and arranging payoffs to a porn actress. He was also the first president to be impeached twice.
If he returns to the White House, he has vowed to enact a hardline immigration agenda, including stopping migrants from crossing the Us-mexico border and reimposing an international travel ban.
The next big test for Trump and Ms Haley,
a married mother-of two, will be the South Carolina primary on February 24.
It is her home state, where she was a two-term governor. But Ms Haley still faces an uphill struggle there, due
to its arch-conservatism and solid support for the ex-president.
Despite being a month away, Ms Haley last night launched local TV adverts in a bid to woo Republicans.
