Man City Phil’s mum: I’m animal if drunk
Foden mother is held after bust-up in club
FOOTBALLER Phil Foden’s mum spent a night in a cell after she swore at police during a booze-fuelled outburst.
Claire Rowlands, 44, was in a nightclub last year when the trouble began.
She told a court she had been drinking shots of vodka and tequila when she tried to show a man, 42, her “party trick” and knocked his hat off.
She said: “I was drunk. It was just a bit of fun, a bit of banter. I just could not believe it, that I could get into trouble for knocking someone’s cap off.
“It’s my party trick, knocking someone’s cap off and putting it back on. I did not mean him any harm or to hurt him, and you can see that on the video. It was just a bit of banter which has been taken the wrong way.”
AGGRESSIVE
I just could not believe I could get into trouble for knocking someone’s cap off
But when bouncers got her to leave Bentley’s in Towyn, North Wales, she became aggressive towards them and police were called to the club, the court was told.
The court was shown police bodycam footage released by the CPS with Rowlands saying to officers: “Go on then, what’ve I done? Don’t come into my face unless you’ve got evidence.”
She also tells them to “f*** off ”. Her friends tell police to “get off her”.
Rowlands was handcuffed and led away on September 9, just nine hours after Phil, 23, played for England in a 2024 Euro qualifier. She spent the night in a cell and was then released.
She admitted to police: “I do not drink often but when I do, I make up for time. I am like an animal.”
The Manchester City forward’s mum, of Prestbury, Cheshire, appeared at Llandudno magistrates court on Tuesday, where she was cleared of assault but fined for drunk and disorderly behaviour.
