ALLIANZ NFL MATCHBOX: DIVISION 2

-

Meath v Fermanagh Navan, 2.30pm

THE loser here could well be in a relegation battle.

Fermanagh, promoted last year, are favourites to go back down and losing Ryan Jones won’t help.

Meath, who travel to Armagh next weekend, already have an All-ireland place secure as Tailteann Cup winners, so are only playing for promotion or to avoid relegation.

Odds: Home: 2/9 Draw: 10/1 Away: 4/1

VERDICT: Meath

Kildare v Cavan Netwatch Cullen Park, 5pm

RAYMOND GALLIGAN is in year one with Cavan, who need a new goalie following the manager’s move to the dugout.

Darragh Kirwan was in fine form for Maynooth in the Sigerson during the week, while Alex Beirne could be one to kick on this year with Kildare. Harry O’neill is also a fine young prospect. Odds: Home: 1/2 Draw: 15/2 Away: 2/1

Verdict: Kildare

Armagh v

Box-it Athletic Grounds, 6pm (BBC & GAAGO) WE’LL see if Dublin All-ireland winner Ger Brennan (inset) has got the buy-in post Mickey Harte that he needs.

Armagh were relegated last year and will want to go straight back up again.

Oisin O’neill’s return and his long range point taking adds to their armoury.

Odds: Home: 1/10

Draw: 14/1 Away: 13/2

VERDICT: Armagh

Louth

Donegal v Cork

Tomorrow, Ballybofey 1.45pm (TG4, deferred)

JIM Mcguinness’ second term ramps up a gear.

Back in 2011 he opened with a late surge from eight points back to draw with Sligo. It was the start of ‘Fortress Ballybofey’ and Donegal ended up winning Ulster from Division 2 that year.

Cork were boosted by a recent Mcgrath Cup final victory over Kerry. Odds: Home: 4/7 Draw: 7/1 Away: 15/8

VERDICT: Donegal
