THE RULE OF LAW

Snowden’s chaser on track

-

FOLLOW the letter of the Law on Cheltenham’s Festival Trials card.

GA LAW (1.15) won the Paddy Power Gold Cup at this track last season and he looked like he would win the Sky Bet Chase at Doncaster on this day 12 months ago before falling at the last.

He went on to finish fifth in the Grade 1 Ryanair Chase at the Festival just to underline his class.

There was a lot to like about the way he jumped and travelled behind his stablemate Datsalrightgino in Newbury’s Coral Gold Cup in early December.

He was still in with a shout heading to the third-last fence but the petrol ran out in the closing stages of that incredibly-competitive

3m2f handicap.

With trainer Jamie Snowdon enjoying an excellent season, he looks to have a great chance.

Have 2pts each-way at 9-1. Most bookies are paying out on four places.

The SBK Great Yorkshire Chase tops the bill at Doncaster.

KANDOO KID (3.15) has looked desperate for the step up to 3m since switching to fences.

He was runner-up behind smart novice Nickle Back on his chasing debut and he also chased home useful Djelo in an

Ascot Grade 2 just before Christmas.

Those 2m4f efforts sandwiched a fortunate Newbury success but he can take a big step forward now he tackles a more suitable distance.

He’s been hitting the line strongly over shorter trips and this season appears to be the first time Paul Nicholls has had a clean running in training him. Have 1pt each-way at 11-1. Plenty of firms are going six places.

RANGE (2.40) is another horse likely to improve a good chunk now he steps up to 3m.

He runs in the Albert Bartlett River Don Novices’ Hurdle having won nicely over 2m4f on heavy ground at Chepstow last month.

His hurdles debut second behind smart Gidleigh Park at Exeter was a cracking start to his career over jumps but he had already shown plenty of promise in bumpers.

He was never going to be quick enough for those contests and he should come into his own now he goes up in distance.

The decent ground should help and everything looks in place for Sam Thomas’ hope to run a big race in this Grade 2 prize.

Have 1pt each-way at 9-1. Several bookies are paying out on four places.
