TWO QUIZZED OVER GUNMAN’S KILLING
Juvenile teen one of those held by gardai
GARDAI were last night questioning two associates of gun victim Jason Hennessy Snr as part of the probe into the alleged murder of the man who killed him.
Sources have confirmed to The Irish Mirror that the two males, one of whom is a juvenile, are closely connected to Hennessy Snr, 48, who later in hospital died from his injuries.
He had been in hospital after he was shot by gunman Tristan Sherry, 26, in Browne’s Steakhouse in Blanchardstown, West Dublin on Christmas Eve.
Sources say one of the suspects is being questioned on suspicion of murdering Sherry.
It’s understood the other person in custody is being questioned about a lesser offence connected to the incident.
Sherry was killed after he and an associate stormed the restaurant armed with a machine pistol and handgun.
Hennessy Snr was shot as he bravely tackled Sherry and later died at the scene.
The victim, from Corduff in Blanchardstown, was hit several times in the neck and upper body and brought to the nearby Connolly Hospital.
It had been thought he would survive his injuries but his condition deteriorated around New Year and he died in the Mater Hospital in central Dublin on January 4.
The two suspects arrested early yesterday by detectives from Blanchardstown Garda station can be held for up to 24 hours. A Garda spokeswoman confirmed the arrests yesterday.
She said: “Officers arrested two males this morning [Sunday] as part of the investigation into the murder of Tristan Sherry that occurred at a premises on the Main Street in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 at approximately 8pm on December 24, 2023.
“Both males are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice
Act, 1984, at Garda stations in the west of the city. This is the eighth and ninth arrest made as part of this investigation. Investigations are ongoing.”
Three males, including a teenage juvenile, have been charged with the murder of Sherry.
Another three males are facing other charges in relation to the incident.
Nobody has been charged over the murder of Hennessy Snr, who was known to gardai and had a reputation for violence.
Although killer Sherry is dead, gardai are still hunting his armed accomplice who fled the scene as the attack happened.
Hennessy Snr’s funeral service was held in Corduff last Saturday week.
His casket was painted green and black and had “the boss man” written on it.
It was transported to the church on the back of his Hulk Recovery trucks.
