STEPHANIE Beacham feared she was going to die during an armed raid on her home.

The Dynasty star, 76, was threatened with a 2ft metal bar and ordered to hand over cash and jewellery by burglar David Wilson.

Stephanie told of her terror after hearing a noise downstairs, adding: “I looked over in the back and there he was the most frightening face with a... crowbar.

“He leapt up the stairs and then there it was, a crowbar, over my head. And then the corny dialogue, ‘Give me your money, give me your jewellery, don’t look at me, I wish you weren’t here’.

“I thought, ‘Oh, I think I’m going to die’ and I was an absolute wimp, total wimp, and I gave him my money.”

The former Coronation Street star said Wilson asked what was inside her Valentino handbag, adding: “I gave him everything.”

She said she was told to get in the bathroom, where she locked herself in. Stephanie dropped her phone when she first saw Wilson and had to wait until he left before calling police.

Stephanie was targeted at her home in Bayswater, West London, on October 25, 2022.

Speaking on ITV’S

Good Morning Britain yesterday, she said she was shocked to be burgled on a Sunday afternoon.

She said: “Weeks later when I was giving in the report thing, I said, ‘I feel almost sorry for him’, and the policeman was incredibly cross with me. He said, ‘I heard your 999 call, you thought you were going to die’.”

Wilson, of Glasgow, was jailed for 10 years and five months last February after admitting the aggravated burglary at Stephanie’s home and a raid in Sheffield, South Yorks.

Southwark crown court judge Martin Griffiths told him: “What you did had a traumatic effect on her.”
