The business of winning

- THE APPRENTICE

IF YOU’RE missing The Traitors already, Lord Sugar’s latest crop of candidates will surely provide more drama and backstabbing.

Only in a boardroom rather than a spooky castle.

Yes, the original business reality show is back, with more budding entrepreneurs risking humiliation, elbowing each other out of the way for a tantalising £250,000 investment. The hopefuls include a yoga expert, a mortgage broker, a pharmacist and two pie company owners – and at first glance they seem as self-confident as candidates past.

But could this group be the first to learn that if they work as a team, they’re more likely to stay in the process? Unlikely.

Tonight, Lord Sugar sends them all packing, as their first assignment takes them to the beautiful Scottish Highlands. It’s boys versus girls as always, and after the awkward business of choosing a team name, they are asked to organise a corporate away day. It should be high end and fun for the participants, but must also turn a profit.

Chaos ensues, and while catering proves particularly tricky, long-time Apprentice fans will be excited to hear that the teams will be acting as tour guides too – always a recipe for disaster. As ever, Lord Sugar’s trusted associates Karren Brady and Tim Campbell will be overseeing proceedings with some furious scribbling and raised eyebrows.

And if you’re keen to dissect all the ups and downs of the group’s task, the excellent spin-off series You’re Fired is still going strong, with Tom Allen speaking to the first rejected candidate on BBC2 at 10pm.
