ALLIANZ NFL MATCHBOX: DIVISION 2

-

Armagh v

Box-it Athletic Grounds, 6pm A DRAW at home to Fermanagh last weekend didn’t give the impression that Meath are set to move to the next level after their Tailteann Cup success.

Armagh didn’t set the Athletic Grounds alight either in their opener against Louth, which they won by a point.

Still, Kieran

Mcgeeney’s side is the one that has operated at a consistently higher level in recent years.

VERDICT: Armagh

Meath

Cavan v Donegal

Tom., Kingspan Breffni, 4pm RAYMOND GALLIGAN and Jim Mcguinness made flying starts last weekend and the winner of this tie will have made a significant move in the promotion race.

Donegal’s form in dismantling Cork was particularly impressive, however, and they look best placed to maintain the early running.

They have generally had Cavan’s number over the past decade. VERDICT: Donegal

Fermanagh v Kildare

KILDARE have had their moments under Glenn Ryan (below).

But there hasn’t been enough to suggest the project is going places and the defeat to Cavan was the latest setback which puts their hopes of promotion in a precarious position.

Fermanagh will be happy enough to preserve Division Two status this year. VERDICT: Fermanagh

Louth v Cork Tomorrow, Ardee, 1pm

CORK’S enigmatic streak was there for all to see as they suffered a pasting in Donegal last Sunday.

And the margin of error is diminishing now if they are to live up to their billing as promotion hopefuls.

Louth contended for a spot in Division One last year, right up to the final round of games, but amid the managerial upheaval since they’ll settle for just staying up.

VERDICT: Cork
