MOYES IS READY TO STAY WITH HAMMERS

- BY ALAN SMITH

DAVID MOYES has offered the clearest indication yet that he will remain West Ham manager beyond the summer.

Moyes (above), whose current deal expires in June, expects to hold new talks with the club’s board now the transfer window has shut.

And while he has remained relaxed about his contract, stressing on numerous occasions he was too focused on the team’s packed fixture list to be concerned about his own future, he is likely to sign a two-and-a-halfyear deal.

Asked ahead of tomorrow’s trip to former club

Manchester United if he could provide an update on his future, Moyes said:

“We’ll get back on it now the window is shut.

“We’re well down the line and moving on with it. We’ll pick that up again in the next few weeks.”

West Ham finally confirmed Pablo Fornals’ £7million move to Real Betis and Said Benrahma’s loan to Lyon yesterday afternoon, 17 hours after the transfer deadline passed.

An apparent IT hiccup threatened to scupper the switches.

And the furious French side claimed West Ham had failed to successfully input information into the FIFA Transfer Matching System (TMS), which is required to complete any international deal. Benrahma (below) had spent Thursday in France, agreeing personal terms and completing a medical.

Fornals, meanwhile, was initially meant to be involved in Thursday night’s 1-1 draw with Bournemouth only for Betis to make a late bid.

The Spain international instead watched the match from the tunnel at London Stadium, waiting to hear if his sale was going through.

But Betis, who were more measured in their initial criticism, said that a “computer error” on West Ham’s side meant the transfer was not completed in time.

Both the French and Spanish clubs lodged an appeal with FIFA yesterday morning and an exception was subsequently made.

Yet any suggestion of deliberate sabotage from West Ham has been rubbished after Lyon initially accused them of “incomprehensible behaviour” and a “profound lack of respect”.

Fornals (above) said in a message to fans: “I just want to thank you for these four seasons and a half and for the support and the good memories.

“I arrived as a kid and became a man here and it was such a great pleasure for me to fight from relegation in my first season to become sixth in the league, to play a semi-final of European football with you the next season and to win a trophy.”
